Amazon River, Brazil
Itamatatuba, a small village in the Bailique Archipeligo of the Amazon river's estuary near the Atlantic Ocean. Here the Fluvial Court has docked for a 1 night stay. The Fluvial Court boat is docked at the towns pier, with other river traffic.
The estuary is vast, with numerous narrow inlets. The dense jungle makes accessibility to the region difficult by all means other than river transport. Most people here live from fishing and some small scale cultivation. Extremely isolated, what little contact they have with the outside world comes from the visits from the Fluvial Court boat which stops here for one morning every two months. The river boat brings judges, social workers and doctors to help care for the needs of these extremely isolated communities.
